Hey, I'm Josh!
I'm a Senior Backend Engineer at Futuri Media. I was born and raised in North Jersey, but now I live outside of Philadelphia with my wife and dog Smity! Throughout my career, I've built systems across a wide range of industries—from ballistic missile defense to fashion, and most recently, AI in the media space. I love taking on new challenges, no matter the field.
Some of my recent projects include: the world's first AI DJ on live radio, AI-generated spec spot commercials, and AI-powered audiobook production.
I primarily code in Python and TypeScript, but lately, I've been exploring Go and really enjoying its simplicity and powerful concurrency model. Goroutines and channels make it a joy to work with for highly concurrent applications, and I'm to find more applications for it!
If you asked me what my favorite language is today, I'd say Racket. It's a Lisp language that I love for its powerful macro system, which lets me create my own domain-specific languages (DSLs) with ease!
Education
I earned my Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Seton Hall University, graduating Magna Cum Laude.
While studying, I had the opportunity to work with Dr. Marco T. Morazan, conducting research in compiler design and building a Domain Specific Language called FSM . My work on FsM was published in the Electronic Proceedings in Theoretical Computer Science .
I also presented my research at Trends in Functional Programming (TFP) and Implementation of Functional Languages (IFL).
Work Experience
Futuri Media LLC
Senior Backend Developer • August 2023 - April 2026
- Led backend development of AI-powered media platforms used in production across radio and emergency broadcast systems
- Built AudioAI: an AI-driven radio assistant used by ~60 stations to generate and schedule live broadcast content, achieving ~99% uptime with Redis caching and rate limiting
- Engineered SpotOn: scalable APIs for AI-generated audio/video ads using multiple providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, ElevenLabs, ResembleAI), with multi-provider failover and latency-aware load balancing
- Developed Beacon: AI-driven emergency broadcast system processing FEMA and weather alerts with 99.9% uptime across AWS regions
- Built AI Video Vendor (Go): service consuming jobs from AWS SQS, distributing requests across 10+ external vendors using adaptive load balancing, retries, and failover strategies
- Led infrastructure transformation with Terraform, Ansible, and Docker, reducing deployment time from ~8 to ~3.5 minutes and lowering infrastructure costs
- Implemented centralized logging, metrics, and tracing using Grafana and Prometheus for full system observability
- Mentored junior and mid-level engineers and contributed to system architecture decisions across projects
